Three steps to prevent damage to your businesses online reputation! – Part 2

In step one, we addressed identifying weaknesses within your internet reputation. Once the weaknesses have been identified, it is time to move onto step two: protect.


The second step to prevent damage is to protect your online reputation. With step one we addressed the areas that need to be strengthened, now we will look at some methods we can utilise to protect our online reputation. Some mainstream methods are:

  • Creating keyword dense, relevant and strategically placed content such as Press Releases and Media Articles.
  • Creating local Directory Listings for you or your business. The directory listings should feature your contact/address details that are displayed on your website. An example of a highly ranking directory listing site is:
  • Monitoring content that is associated with your online profile through systems such as Google Alerts.   
  • Utilizing SEO teams either local or international to optimise positive content and/or de-optimise negative content. 


These methods can take anywhere from 4 – 8 weeks to 6 – 12 months to take effect. This depends on many factors such as keyword popularity, competition and ultimately it comes down to how Google want to display search results.
